6 Fun and Stress-Free Ways to Decorate for the Fall Holidays
Halloween, Samhain, and Thanksgiving are coming up quicker than you think, and there’s a lot to do to get ready. Deciding on costumes, picking out turkey recipes, sending out Friendsgiving invitations… it can start to feel overwhelming. Thank(sgiving)fully, there are tons of ways to get your space ready for guests without tearing out your hair. We’re here to give you some relaxation amid chaos while still doing something productive and ensuring a successful outcome. Here are six fun projects to welcome in this spooky, tasty, and cozy season.
Fall Harvest Wreath:
Whether you’re planning a big holiday bash or a quiet evening with family, nothing puts people in the festive mood quicker than seasonal decorations. Get a head start by setting the tone before your guests even make it through the door! These wreaths, made on a sustainable and long-lasting grapevine base, will bring a pop of fall color and whimsy to your door. As an added plus, the wreath is not specific to just one holiday. Not only will the wreath itself last a long time, it will also work with your decorations for months and months!
Fresh Flower Arrangement:
Outside, most of the plants are winding down for their long winter nap. I know I always miss the beauty of fresh green foliage in the colder months. So bringing some of that beauty inside with flower arrangements is a no-brainer. In this workshop, a professional florist will walk you through the fundamentals of color theory and floral arrangement, so your piece will truly shine! All materials are included, even the vase. If you’re looking for something a little more durable, you might also consider making a dried flower arrangement or a moss art installation. There are so many different ways to harness that plant power even as the leaves outside get ready to fall.
Succulent Pumpkin Centerpiece:
If fresh flowers don’t get you in the festive mood, these creative fall centerpieces definitely will! Everyone loves pumpkins, but sometimes jack-o-lanterns don’t quite hit the mark. Not to mention, they tend to get gross quicker than you expect. In this workshop, participants will use beautiful succulents, preserved moss, vibrant dried flowers, and elegant seed heads to put together a unique and sophisticated centerpiece for their holiday table. The striking silhouette and vibrant colors of these centerpieces will put your decorations one step above the same old traditional pumpkin carvings.
Chunky Knit Pumpkin or Blanket:
Just as the colors in the trees are heating up, the weather is cooling down. As we all unpack our sweaters, scarves, and warm socks, nothing says fall quite like thick, cozy yarn. Thankfully, you don’t have to be a fiber-art specialist to get in on this homey yet trendy action. Making a chunky knit accent like a blanket or a pumpkin is super easy and fun, even if you’ve never touched knitting needles. The chunky throw blanket is the perfect place to snuggle up with some mulled cider, and the pumpkin doubles as a super cute pillow!
Gingerbread House:
Most people associate gingerbread houses more with Christmas than other holidays, but with the right decorations, they can be the perfect accent or centerpiece to autumn decorations. These spooky gingerbread houses feature fun details like black icing, a gingerbread bat or cat, and haunting red candy windows that bring this holiday confection right into the spirit of the fall season. After all, the flavor of gingerbread isn’t that far from pumpkin spice, so maybe gingerbread deserves a bit more attention!
Fall Glassware:
No matter what holidays you celebrate this fall, there’s one thing you can be sure of; This time of year, people love to eat! And while everyone is enjoying those seasonal treats, they’re going to need something to wash it all down. Why not bring some of that fall charm to the glassware? Each attendee of this glass-painting workshop will leave with two fully customized, seasonally appropriate pieces of glassware. Wine glasses, pint glasses, and beer steins will all be available to guests. The end results will be food safe and dishwasher safe, so whether you plan to fill them with your favorite cider or just display them on the mantelpiece, you’ll be able to enjoy your glasses all season long. Come with friends, and put together a whole set of cups just in time for your holiday plans!
With the holidays coming up, the fall can be a busy, hectic time. As the days get shorter and colder, it’s important to take the time to bring your own light and warmth into your home.
